Fingerprint reader ?
For W11 Home users on a desktop connected via cable, Hi. I noticed you might need a Windows 11 account to use the fingerprint reader. Having an account is causing issues with logging into websites, and Google seems to be requesting a PIN instead of using saved passwords. This might also affect facial recognition. TA
what are the intended uses for the fingerprint scanner? there doesn't appear to be any reference to requiring an msa (microsoft account) for setting up fingerprints during logon, it should function locally.
What you aim to use a fingerprint scanner for is clear. It’s about accessing online services such as banks, Amazon, and eBay without needing passwords. With a mobile phone, I can connect by simply placing my finger on it. This would make the process much simpler. If I don’t need an MSA, that would be beneficial. I often face issues logging in due to MSA requirements, and sometimes I’m prompted for my PIN multiple times. Using the same email across platforms causes problems. I wish I could return to the simpler days when forms were just completed automatically. A fingerprint reader would make things easier. Someone else gaining access to my computer—like a child—could log into eBay and make a big deal about buying a Ferrari, which happened once in 208. Fingerprint technology would prevent that.
the image you showed of the page requesting a password looked like the one you receive when you try to show a password. it shouldn't appear every time you log in to a site you have an account on. something might be wrong with your windows if it keeps asking for that. windows hello also behaves this way.
