Finding secret BIOS settings is straightforward or not?
He attempted to adjust the power restrictions on his Razer Blade 2019. He used AFUWIN to load, experiment with changes, and then re-flash the BIOS ROM. Ultimately, he couldn't finish his goal. Although I understand how risky modifying the BIOS can be, it seems relatively safe to try such methods. My older machine uses American Megatrends BIOS, so it should work too. He didn't manage to remove the power limits, but I'm eager to explore other settings if given the opportunity.
Looking too lazy to watch, but I think it’s just about editing the bios ROM to reveal hidden settings. It should be pretty safe if you’re only bringing back things that already exist, but if you really want to change defaults, think twice. I’ve tried this on my p5q and it just messes with the BIOS, so probably not worth it.
The main risk is damaging the board, but that’s easy to fix. For socketed BIOS chips, remove the chip and reprogram it. Non-socketed ones (like those from past generations or Skylake) are usually fine, or you can use test clips or desoldering tools to take out the chip and reflash it.
If you don’t have the right tools to reflash, it’s not worth trying unless you’re prepared for a brick. Otherwise, go ahead and experiment—once you fix the BIOS, it’s safe to work with.
From my experience, there are few reliable resources out there, and I’ve seen many myths about BIOS modding. Just be careful, and don’t expect miracles.
