Finding Higher FPS in Stock Configs vs Overclocking
I was testing my MSI GTX 970 overclocked on Borderlands 2 at high settings, achieving 60-70 fps while moving and 20-30 fps in gunfights. When I reset to stock, the game ran smoothly at 100-130 fps. It’s strange how it behaves differently between Borderlands 2 and Black Ops 3, but both run well at high settings. I’m curious about why this happens and whether pushing the overclock further would help. I’ve used similar settings on COD Black Ops 3 and it also works fine at 100-115 fps. It’s odd that BL2 handles it better than BO3.
PTOWN GAMER thought your voltage settings were too high. They suggested starting with the default voltage, then gradually increasing it until instability occurs. Once unstable, they recommended raising the voltage by 0.5v and continuing to adjust until stability returns. OMG OC101, this was exactly what was wrong—I feel really stupid right now. But thanks for adjusting it down to +1 and everything is working now.

PTOWN GAMER shared some advice about voltage settings. They mentioned starting with the default voltage, then overclocking gradually until instability occurs. After that, increasing the voltage by 0.5v repeatedly until stability returns. They expressed frustration at the initial issue and thanked the person for clarifying it, noting it resolved after adjusting the setting to +1.
