Finding DDR4 speed for a 3rd gen Ryzen setup (3900X)
Finding DDR4 speed for a 3rd gen Ryzen setup (3900X)
Hello, I just put together a setup using these components: AMD 3900X, Asus TUF gaming X570 plus, and TridentZ 3600MHz DDR4 (two 16GB modules installed as per the manual). I left everything in "auto" mode in the BIOS/UEFI because I’m not very familiar with all the settings. By default, the system recognizes the RAM as 2133MHz DDR4. I can change the frequency to "DDR4-3600" manually, but then the machine fails to boot and shows a POST error code. I have no choice but to reset the CMOS to try again... Perhaps adjusting another setting would help? I didn’t see an option for an XMP profile in the BIOS/UEFI. Let me know if you need any more guidance. Thanks, -a-
AMD system uses D.O.C.P. for XMP settings in the A.I tweaker section
D.O.C.P. corresponds to ASUS AMD's XMP feature on other brands, often referred to as XAMP. Configure the D.O.C.P., save the settings and restart the system. Allow a short pause (sometimes multiple restarts are needed) for the memory to adjust. Once stabilized, it should operate at a higher frequency. If the memory is located on the motherboard, it will recognize it easily; otherwise, it may select less precise timing options.
My units are F4-3600C17D-32GTZ KW and they aren't listed on the QVL. On the QVL I can see: F4-3600C17D -32GTZ R I'll check for DOCP in the BIOS...
Could not locate D.O.C.P. within the BIOS settings. Does this represent an abbreviation for another term?
