You can simply swap the modules and they should work fine. No need to update the BIOS unless your system requires it for compatibility.

Make sure all devices are powered down. If needed, shut off the power supply unit and remove the cord from it, letting it rest for a few minutes before handling anything inside. This helps clear any residual charge in the capacitors before you work inside the case. Next, align the new RAM modules into slots A1 and B1 or A2 and B2 to enable dual-channel operation. The existing BIOS settings should still function normally. Good luck!

No changes are required; simply adjust the BIOS settings once the second RAM is installed. Activate XMP/DOCP during setup.

XMP refers to Intel's technology, while DOCP is associated with AMD.

Adding more storage would not lower performance; it would improve your experience.

RAM boosts are always better, but you definitely don’t want to end up with a third stick. It creates a problem because of how things are set up. I’m not sure how to put it simply. The dual channel setup is tricky—slots like A1 and B1, and pairing A2 with B2, disrupts the flow. If you assume you already have compatible RAM, the best move is to get another identical or nearly identical kit. Remember, the overall performance depends on the weakest part, just like a chain. Adding RAM only works as fast as the slowest unit. So, match your new RAM to what’s already there. It’s a bit of a detailed explanation, but I hope it clarifies things. Stay careful and good luck!
