Hey everyone, in September I gifted my son a computer so he could enjoy Minecraft and other titles on Steam. He hasn't used it in more than three months, so I'm giving it a new purpose. My concern is whether, once he's older and has another PC, he'll still be able to download the game and have his world backed up in the cloud. Or should I save the save files on a USB drive for future use? Thanks in advance!

Save your Minecraft files from the appdata folder. The browser offers a way to access appdata or you can type %appdata and locate the directory.

C:\Users\[yourusernamehere]\AppData\Roaming\ . is where his worlds are. in a folder called minecraft, which then contains a folder called saved if i recall correctly

The client operates independently and doesn't require repeated downloads; you can access it any number of times.

The Minecraft website now features a fully updated interface, and the download option remains positioned at the top left corner.

Another way is to simply enter %appdata%\.minecraft in a Windows search or Run dialog.
