Hello, I have an Asus Z790-P which just randomly booted into BIOS recovery mode. I have cleared, allocated, reformatted, made the USB FAT32 and even only 500mb FAT. Tried to use the rename tool that comes with the BIOS itself and tried to name it just ASUS.CAP as the Recovery mode asks me to but nothing seems to work. No matter how many restarts I keep getting the same recovery screen. Before anyone asks, Yes I've tried all the USB ports, No the MOBO doesn't have a flash button. The CPU in it is an i5 14600k if that could be the issue. Either way I'm not finding any answers. I have followed 4 different videos on how to flashback the BIOS, asked ChatGPT even and read on reddit but there too I find no answers. Is the MOBO bricked or does anyone have a solution?
Can you access the BIOS settings? When you transfer the BIOS firmware onto a USB stick, it should appear as an empty file without any folders—just a plain .CAP file. https://www.asus.com/ca-en/support/faq/1012219/ ASUS' instructions for retrieving the BIOS if the recovery mode message shows up.
Author struggles to access bios files, they're missing from folders and at the root directory. USB drive appears unformatted, showing a .CAP file.
There are no new developments. If it won’t load into BIOS or show the ASUS logo, it’s a warning sign. This board lacks the USB BIIOS FlashBack function—you might need someone to reprogram it by connecting directly to the chip.
