Find ways to lower the voltage on AMD Ryzen laptops' CPUs.
there are tools available to adjust the voltage settings on ryan zen processors, though undervolting requires caution. for your 5800h in a legion 7, throttling can help manage performance and battery life. check if your motherboard supports power management features and consider using reputable software like HWMonitor or Speccy to monitor and adjust settings safely.
Two are distinct concepts. Lowering the voltage decreases both voltage and current at the same frequency, keeping performance consistent or improving it (subject to constraints). Cutting the power cap lowers frequency to cut energy use, which means performance drops.
I'm working with the 5800H under heavy load, reaching 95 to 100. Living in a warmer climate with an ambient temperature of 36°C, I considered undervolting. Have you tried this on Ryzen laptops before? Is this a one-time adjustment in the controller, or do you need to switch between power-saving and performance modes manually each time?
I don't believe Ryzen Master functions on laptops. The alternative controller doesn't allow voltage adjustments, just power restrictions.
