You definitely dislike advertisements? Nice to hear! Are you also frustrated with ad income? I’ve got a fix for that—this isn’t an AdBlocker! Back in the XPERIA X8 era, we would install much more recent updates, as planned by Sony Ericsson (from version 1.6 to 2.3). We maximized every bit of performance, except for ads. Since we couldn’t use an adblocker, we relied on a hosts file. What is a hosts file? It lets you block ads, banners, third-party cookies, page counters, web bugs, and even many hijackers by preventing the connections that deliver them. This is done by stopping the links that supply these small services. The hosts file is stored in memory (cache) when the system starts, so you don’t need to change any settings except for the DNS client service. Windows automatically searches for a hosts file and checks it first for entries related to the page you’re viewing. The 0.0.0.0 prefix identifies your computer; if that entry exists, the browser treats it as the correct location. If not found, it moves to the next file, blocking the ad server from loading the banner. For example, an entry like 0.0.0.0 ad.doubleclick.net prevents all files from that DoubleClick server from reaching your screen and stops tracking your activity. Why? Because some ad servers, such as DoubleClick, might silently open a new connection on your page, log your movements, and even redirect you to other sites. How do you set up a hosts file? Download it here: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.zip Extract it and rename the file to HOSTS (without extension). On Windows, place it in /system32/drivers/etc/. On Linux, rename it from HOSTS to hosts2 and move it to /etc/. Then add it to your existing hosts file using a script—since sudo can’t run commands directly, create a script like hostsinstall.sh, run it with sudo, and voilà! Ads are gone. It works on Android, Linux, MAC (probably), and Windows. No annoying adblocker hogging space or memory. Cheers!

Since it's about ads and cash, that's the reason! If I had ads, I'd own a TV.

Yes, you also need root access on Android to change your Host file. An app named Adaway can help automate this task and prevent ads. Keep in mind it may not work with all apps—some, like YouTube, need an Xposed module for blocking ads.

Imagine if you could exclude certain sites from being blocked. That way, LMG would be handling the dough.

If your system runs out of available memory and an addblocker is affecting performance, you should consider upgrading.

Alternatively, simply install HostMan and it will automatically fetch the host file and refresh it when necessary. You can also enable or disable it as required.
