I understand you're unsure about moving to Windows 11 and are considering a permanent switch to Linux. That's totally okay—this advice is really useful. Thanks!

I’ve mainly used Windows 10 Enterprise. This would really help next time I need to configure a system for someone.

It functions via wifi too, though you can't return to the screen easily. Modern laptops usually lack a physical key or toggle for wifi, so you'd have to leave the area—often far from your home—making it less convenient.

Sure, the Ethernet approach functions generally across all versions, even on Windows 11 in S-Mode. Using most executables—like those from the command line—is restricted until you log in and visit the Microsoft Store with an active account.

For 11S you should perform a complete reset and reinstall via an installation USB, ensuring secure boot is turned off. (It may start up and install with Secure Boot active, but you’ll need to disable it to revert to S mode.)

Just turn it off for a while, that should be simpler than fighting the signal range
