I noticed that update. I’m not sure since I didn’t need to contact MS to enable the Windows setup.

The OEM key is stored on the motherboard, so losing it means you can’t rely on that key anymore. Using a different CD key won’t work unless you replace the original key. You won’t need to change your motherboard unless you want to.

The keys are linked to the device they’re placed on. If a key loses its permission, it won’t work anymore, though you can switch to another one.
