The 10700K recently took the top spot for least impressive CPU on the Gamers Nexus YouTube channel this morning...that’s settled. If Gaming was my priority, then the 10900K would be a solid choice too—it handles your other jobs well. However, if you’re after top-tier performance and are okay with subtle differences in FPS or playing games already at their limits, then a 3900x is the better option. You’ll notice faster speeds and more cores, making it much more satisfying.
It differs from the 3700X with its higher base clock; however, you might describe it as a more refined binned variant. The 3800X offers improved overclocking potential if you aim to exceed the automatic boost settings, and it comes with a superior cooler.
The whispers vary widely, with some mentioning 3800 XT and others talking about 3850X. I haven’t fully settled on their existence yet.
Could get around 3900x from $291 to $421 after taxes at the micro center—this seems like the most affordable option I found. I appreciate seeing the "12/24 threads" as well. Also, I'm using an AIO setup. The 3800x looks better in price, so I think that's the top I'll consider. Thanks! You're right. It makes more sense to just go with Zen3 4000.
