We've been discussing a switch for a while now. The choices are a 3700x, Intel 10900K, or the 10700K (which offers better value). I have the budget for both and a compatible motherboard. My needs include gaming, streaming, and video editing, rendering, and encoding. I really don’t want to test one without knowing the other. I’m having trouble finding reliable details about the 10700K.

Regarding a 3900x, it seems the cost has been significantly reduced.

The single-threaded speed on Ryzen is only marginally lower than Intel's 10th gen, while its multi-threaded performance shines much more. If a 3800X is priced similarly to a 3700X, I’d choose the 3800X. You’ll probably notice a big improvement with Ryzen for streaming, rendering, and editing tasks.

Steve from Gamer's Nexus believes the i7-10700K falls short. Its single-core speed matches the i5-10600K at a lower price, but it lacks the multithread boost seen with the i9-10900K. On the Ryzen side, the 7th Gen 3700X delivers solid performance and works well on mid-range boards like the B450. The boxed cooler performs adequately, offering eight cores that provide a similar experience to the i9-9900K. It also runs smoothly on many mid-tier systems—just consider upgrading to an X570 if you need more power for content creation.

Making a significant cut in expenses while upgrading to a 3900X. No prior experience with Ryzen, though the 3700X offers better value but supports overclocking? I’m curious about that. It’s a solid choice considering the fun factor. Well, that fits my plan—thanks for all the info on AMD options. Ryzen XT seems to be on the horizon, promising top performance. I’ve never used an AMD CPU before; my previous 7GHz model worked fine, but now I’m upgrading for newer games and improved productivity. The 3700X is under $500, which fits the budget, so that’s my decision. An Asus TUF X570 also appeals to me since I love dark boards.

3700X for a custom cooler, otherwise it's 3800X—yay! 3900X if you're going all out.

It really makes a big distinction. Many believe it’s simply a 3700x increase with a higher base price for roughly $40 extra.

3800X features a superior cooler by design, with automatic OC enabled when thermal and power allow.
