I’m aiming to craft the most challenging Half-Life session possible and test my skills. I’m using Half-Life: Source with heavily reduced graphics settings and sticking to the original Quake control style (:painSmile. The main challenge is achieving a framerate as low as 10 FPS, capping it at no more than 30 FPS, without relying on in-game engine commands that enforce a steady rate. I’m targeting an unstable performance, hoping for noticeable jitter and inconsistent lag. This run is being tested on a GTX 1060, and I’ve turned off multi-core rendering to see how it affects the output.

Set all cores off except one, restrict it to 1GHz. It’s a bit absurd, but kind of hilarious at the same time.

You can limit performance to only the specific application. The engine relies on older processes, so isolating the program helps.

Issues may reduce CPU performance in BIOS configurations and limit GPU power usage to around 5-10% of the total power consumption.

Have you explored the command "Fps_max"? https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Fps_max <edit> It seems you're aiming for a higher frame rate. Let me know if you need further help.

I've mentioned I don't want that since it would cause my frame rate to stay too low all the time. I need a rate that's okay sometimes and then suddenly impossible to handle. I'm after genuine lag that can't be fixed easily.

You're planning to use a Chromebook with UwUntu, and you're ready to proceed.
