Hello, my name is Francesco. I spend a lot of time online for gaming and streaming. Last week I moved into a bigger house—previous place was fine but my room was tiny. Now the biggest issue is the router signal. It’s strong enough to cover the whole house, even the garage upstairs. However, internet speeds are slow lately, probably due to heavy usage like free services. When I tried streaming today it failed because of lag, and my game worked just fine. What should I do to improve connection and reduce lag? Should I use LAN cables or a Wi-Fi booster? My current speed is about 40 Mb/s down and 10 Mb/s up.

LAN cable connection. Your connection time to the router should be less than 1 millisecond.

Yes, they function despite needing to move 20 to 25 meters.

Cat5e and Cat6 support 1 Gbps over 100 meters. Cat6a offers 10 Gbps in the same range. Cat5e can handle 2.5 Gbps and Cat6 can reach 5 Gbps at that distance. Locate equipment supporting 2.5 and 5 Gbps will be difficult due to cost constraints.

Where are you located? Are you in Italy, seeing as you mentioned it got bad when pornhub was made free. If so, nothing will help this..... But I am just trying to understand the exact situation. Yes, a wire will help, wires are always the best option for networking, but if you are experiencing an ISP related bandwidth issue (you live in Italy where the internet is being HAMMERED), a wire to your router will not actually help anything.

I reside in Italy, in a small village close to Florence. I believe this isn't an ISP issue since my speed test results show only 14 ms ping.
