What device are you using? I have a USB tethering option on my phone and I’m on Verizon. Right now I’m using a Pixel 3 XL. Even if you connect directly, Verizon will still monitor it and it will count toward your data cap, or at least I think they do based on what I remember.
Finally! It's finally working with my Samsung Galaxy J7 via a micro-USB cable again. After more than two years of trying without success, I gave up over a year ago when VZW tech support couldn't resolve the issue. They insisted it should work over the cable, but nothing we tried made a difference—only internet access through Wi-Fi remained. I'm unsure if a phone or cable problem exists; this one is brand new and only a few weeks old. Connecting to PrivateInternetAccess VPN over the USB on my 3-year-old phone feels much more stable and faster compared to Wi-Fi. Who would have thought?
