Google Calendar works well as a reminder for tasks I often overlook because of memory challenges linked to autism. When my phone isn’t reachable or is off, I’d like my PC to handle it automatically. I even made a short audio clip mimicking Butt-Head’s line, “Check your notifications, dumb-a**.” It functions properly in Windows under the setup I described, but it fails when a notification appears. Why? I’ve attempted to use my Google skills here, yet I’m unclear on the right keywords—sometimes it shows settings or menus instead of what I need. Also, I’m curious if there’s a way to configure it so it only marks tasks as completed rather than just dismissing them. I usually double-check if I’ve taken my medication. It seems you rely on your Google Calendar via a browser like Chrome and have enabled desktop notifications. You need to adjust the notification sound separately from the calendar alert. The issue is that the sound plays for all notifications on your desktop. In Windows, you can customize notifications per application. You should turn off the sound for apps you don’t want to disturb.

I understand your concern, but the Calendar app in Windows doesn't support sound notifications through this method. It appears the only option is to rely on visual or other notification types. Your confirmation about sound settings being enabled suggests that alternative approaches may be available.

The Calendar app also relies on desktop notifications. Adjust the sound settings in the sounds dialog for "Notification." Turn off sound alerts for other apps that also depend on desktop notifications in Windows settings (Win11: System - Notifications).

You use the calendar notification to get reminders or alerts from your calendar app. It helps you stay organized by reminding you of important dates and events.

I verified the functionality once more on my Windows 11 setup, and the "Calendar Reminder" audio plays when I set it up.

Another option exists to turn off audio. Navigate to Settings - System - Sound, locate the "Advanced sound options" section at the end. Select "App volume and device preferences," then verify your system's sound level setting.

I examined this and found it much quieter than the rest, so I adjusted the volume to 100 and others to 80. Thanks for the suggestion, I hope it wasn’t too faint. Testing soon.
