Hello, I'm trying to discover the best method for streaming my video games remotely on a TV. I already have a wired connection, but I need something quiet yet powerful enough for a large screen with minimal lag. I was considering using my wife's unused surface book, but thought it might be too noisy for my needs. I also want to connect directly using a controller, and I've heard about Controller Companion for Steam—it seems to work well with my laptop. However, I'm now looking for a more stable option since she's using it. I've had issues with Steam Link, so I'm hoping a PC-to-PC remote stream would perform better. Anyone have any good experiences or suggestions? I'm still unsure which approach is best.
Any repurposed computer running current Windows or Linux is fine. Even if it's too powerful for your needs, it's just an extra item in your space. It doesn't matter if it's overkill—it's more of a clutter than a useful asset.
I wasn't familiar with Parsec, but it seems like you're prioritizing low power use and minimal noise for future needs.
She now decides she wants to use it after I started looking into Parsec. That’s no longer an option. It looks like I’ll probably consider a different setup next time. I was checking a fanless model: https://www.amazon.com/MINIX-NEO-N42C-4-...0788DJQR9/. From what I found, Parsec seems meant for local play between friends, not remote sessions. Did I misinterpret that?
It shouldn't be an issue since Parsec is simply sending the game to the laptop, similar to streaming YouTube. The laptop won't need much effort and won't be noisy or consume a lot of power. Computers don't usually use huge amounts of energy anyway.
It functions perfectly solo. I tested several games using it that way. Parsec is also available for free, so you can simply install it and try it out.
