I'm working in an office right now. We're running two desktops for a project. One is taking up unnecessary space—one holds an old fiche machine that doesn't work with our Windows 10, but fits our Windows 7 systems. I'm wondering if using VMware to install Windows 7 on the Windows 10 PC would help us eliminate the outdated machine.

I don't intend to rely on Esxi or Workstation. It works well for me. I recommend Hyper-V on Windows for better performance and tighter integration.

I'm not an IT expert, just someone trying to break into the field. My idea came up after talking to the IT person, who said implementing hyper-v would cost around $3000—about the price of a new scanner at that time. To save money, I recommended VMware, but he seemed confused.

Hyper-v comes pre-installed with Windows, so its purpose isn't immediately clear.

He might be discussing the expenses involved in setting up manpower and quality assurance. Or...the enterprise license fee for Hyper-V is $2999.00, as detailed in the Hyper-V licensing guide (refer to the pricing chart).
