WD reds offer features such as thermal management and vibration resistance, making them ideal for server environments. A caching SSD is affordable, with a 250GB unit costing under $100 USD. Running virtual machines simplifies security and enhances performance. Hyper-V is available in Server 2016 or can be paired with hypervisors like Proxmox or ESXi.

I currently have just one 1Gbps connection, and I've attempted to configure VMs, but the port switches between 1Gbps and 10Gbps, yet the output on the main server remains at 100Mbps even though it's a 1Gbps port.

Hmm, you're asking about setting up virtual machines using just one network port. The speed of the network won't impact the VMs at all—they'll function through a virtual switch that connects them to the network. This switch supports 10GbE+, while the rest of the network operates normally.

During VM installation, the main server's connection speed reduces to 100Mbps.
