In Australia, most users have a monthly data limit of 200gb. Recently, our usage has been higher than expected, and the numbers feel off. I’ve personally used under 5gb in the last couple of days, and others confirm they haven’t exceeded it much. When we hit the cap, speeds drop to dial-up levels. The question is whether there are free data trackers for PC, iPad, and Mac that also display which app is consuming data.

Typically good routers monitor data usage. I’d begin there since using a router as an access point reveals bandwidth consumption across all devices at home—laptops, phones, tablets, etc. Do you have a router, and if so, which brand or model?

You can check the usage on your Netgear DGDN3700v2 by accessing the device settings or using the built-in web interface.

Is it really just to watch the traffic? I thought enabling the Traffic Meter would do more than that. Got a bit mixed up.

You can configure it to track your data usage and alert you when you approach a threshold. For instance, with 200 GB monthly, you can enable automatic internet shutdown or trigger an LED indicator on the router once the limit is reached. This helps you stay aware of consumption without exceeding it by month’s end. After setup, navigate to the "traffic statistics" section to view detailed usage summaries for the past period.

We could have a tool that displays exactly where your data is being applied.
