So here’s the situation I’m facing. Download speeds are 1200Mbps, upload is 45Mbps. The games I play often experience random lag, which feels like real internet slowdowns with noticeable pauses and drops. This happens roughly 10 to 15 times per hour. I’ve run several tests and noticed some games provide debugging info online. From what I gathered: ping stays within normal ranges—between 5ms and 60ms—even during peak hours with no packet loss. Most testing sites that simulate network issues report excellent results, which makes sense since I’m using a wired connection. My setup includes an Xfinity white cube PC (Series 7), an Asus TUF x570 MOBO, an AMD 5800X3D CPU, an NVIDIA MSI 4090 XTRIO, all M.2 NVMe SSDs, and a 1200W power supply. Any advice or further questions are welcome.
Do you own a reliable Ethernet connection? Also, could you clarify your network type? It shouldn't matter much, but it would help to know. What titles are you enjoying? You might want to consider whether the game servers are distant from you, leading to slow response times, or if they're generally unreliable.
I’ve switched to a Cat6 cable recently because of this problem, but I haven’t noticed any changes. The 25ft length seems sufficient, as the issue doesn’t appear to be significant. I’m in the central US, where ping works well and ISP latency stays under 10ms.
Never encountered this in offline games, though I’m not sure it’s unique to my setup. No proof of what’s causing it, but I’m not certain how to pinpoint the problem since no changes stand out or obvious lag triggers appear. I might try a fresh install and recheck connections; if it persists, it could point to a connectivity issue.
