I explored several online guides and almost crashed my computer using the registry tool. Discord got stuck in a boot loop, so I had to reinstall it. My friend switched her account name but wants to update her username—she’s not very tech-savvy, which is why I offered assistance. I attempted to replicate the process on my own machine, but it didn’t work and I almost lost all my files. I’m unsure if I made a mistake or if the instructions were unclear, but we’re in need of support.

We're discussing the real extension, specifically the folder name located within the user's directory.

Updating the display name only alters its appearance for the user, while the operating system and apps recognize it as unchanged.

It wasn't my responsibility either. Neither hers.

When transferring files, remember to include the "AppData" directory for application preferences. By default it’s concealed, so open File Explorer, navigate to it, and ensure the "hidden items" option is selected under "View."
