The game in question is Persona 5 Strikers. It's interesting that Denuvo isn't mentioned on the page, though online sources confirm its presence. The store also states the Steam Deck doesn't support P5S, which seems odd given the game's performance.

Yeah, I thought so too. I also label it as malware. Trying to keep things broad: It’s mind-blowing how companies can slip through with tricks like Denuvo and other anti-cheat methods. I believe it was one of the Doom remakes that got rewritten. At first launch, it used two kinds of Denuvo plus a backdoor. For FPS games, any kind of lag feels really frustrating. I also came across Planet coaster experiencing terrible delays when a park with about 10,000 visitors hit that lag—mostly due to poor optimization. And then there’s malware like Denuvo.

Remains focused on that one, right? Persona 5 Strikers indeed uses Denuvo. The issue is: in your earlier setup it worked, now it doesn’t, what changed? Edit — I think the problem is likely tied to this. https://www.dsogaming.com/news/sega-atlu...-strikers/ If you search closely enough, there’s a hint.

Best to just boycott. Funny thing is there is absolutely nothing "lost" due to piracy there however IS for irritating would-be paying customers. NOTE: Nothing from unlawful sources remove Denovo, just circumvents it. The performance issues will remain.

The boy cotting is the main way we show developers we’re upset with their decisions. Yet, with all the tech-naive buyers who don’t realize the game isn’t playable, will the creators even feel the pain of the few who refuse to buy their product? Also, it looks like developers nowadays focus mainly on two things: profit and full control over their intellectual property.

It happens often when P5S freezes during combat it blocks the whole screen and turns black if you try to switch programs. Pressing CRL+ALT+DEL doesn’t open Task Manager, and I have to use ALT+F4 just to close the game. Sometimes a fresh install from the Start button helps, but it’s uncommon. When checking Task Manager during a freeze, I noticed near 100% CPU usage on about five cores. If another program can take over, usage drops instantly to zero. Denuvo seems like a real malware issue—based on what I’ve seen, I’ll never buy another game with that protection. People seem really naive to purchase such games without knowing the problems.

I don't see any direct references to a specific source for the work around on P5S in the provided material. It seems Linus tends to keep things within legal guidelines on his site. For questions near the legal boundary, you might explore alternative platforms or consult legal resources that specialize in this area.

Denuvo and similar protection tools are merely ineffective and often cause more problems than they solve. This strategy is also highly careless. I get why a game creator wants their product safe from early access issues, but many titles have had Denuvo taken away over time. Tekken removed it because it hurt performance, and Project Red noted that with Witcher 3 they preferred the Carrot to the Stick. Even with illegal copies, Witcher 3 still sold more than 40 million copies, while Cyberpunk managed around 13 million at launch—now over 20 million today. The information I base my comments on comes from a concise but insightful article here. In my view, since most games are now digital downloads, there should be simpler ways to verify if someone is using a genuine copy. If you examine Denuvo’s pricing, it appears they offer such a low cost that legitimate players bear the brunt while developers aim to increase sales without letting pirates damage profits during the release window. Would you be surprised if the number of people who avoid games with Denuvo is far less than what developers managed to protect with it?

It’s frustrating we can’t get everyone’s attention and change their minds about these tactics. I’m tired of developers and corporate people telling consumers they don’t care if you like the game or not—just that they want your money. With so many games out now, it makes me wonder if they even tried before releasing. I’d be curious if fixing the problems would have been easier. Over time, it feels like people aren’t improving their approach to living better together. Everyone seems focused only on themselves, and it’s really affecting my well-being. Watching news used to help me cope with depression, but now it’s hurting instead. My priorities are getting distorted, and I’m losing interest in things that should bring me joy.
