I'm setting up a custom streaming PC and have finalized most components except the processor. The recommendation was to go with an R3 3100, but now I'm weighing it against an R5 2600. The 3100 is about $125 with newegg shipping from Canada, while the 2600 is $145 from the US and currently priced at $20 more. Should I place the order for the 3100 and wait a month, or opt for the 2600 sooner? Also, should I hold off until the upcoming 4000 launch in about a week?

For streaming purposes, the 2600 works well. If your configuration matches the one in your profile, you can run the hardware encoder (nvec) on your GPU and handle the processing locally without relying on a second machine.

I hope it performs more smoothly. The issue seems to be with my CPU causing stuttering and frame drops during games. Switching to a two PC configuration is what I’m considering.

Thanks for checking. Have you experienced any problems with your streaming PC? It seems to match your stream PC setup except for the HD60 Pro you acquired.

No problems detected. I own three distinct capture cards, each functioning perfectly. I can handle 1080/60 at a 7k bitrate continuously without any interruptions from system-related issues on my 1800x setup.

You've used a 3440x1440 100Hz monitor and are considering upgrading to a 4K 60Hz display. You're also curious about dual PC configurations and the need for three capture cards.

As I mentioned, you can utilize the GPU hardware encoder on your graphics card (provided it's the 2070 model). If you prefer a dedicated streaming PC, the 2600 is a solid choice.

I’d only receive the 4K if you paired it with HDMI as a pass-through. I usually use Display Port for my main screen and only send HDMI into capture cards, except for console captures. As @TofuHaroto noted, you can simply employ NVENC with the 2070 Pro, which is an excellent encoder and avoids the need for a second PC setup. The NVENC on the 2000 series performs almost like h.264 CPU encoding.

I need to try the 2070 supers encoder again this morning, though I keep experiencing obvious frame drops in COD MW. It’s possible I’m making a mistake.
