I acquired a budget Gigabyte X570 UD at eBay for around $40. Attempting an RMA didn’t work, so I’m considering alternatives. On the back panel, some capacitors and resistors are missing, likely part of the power rails to the CPU. I’m planning to replace them myself since I have plenty of SMT parts available. The challenge now is identifying their values. I’ve reviewed several photos of the underside, but none match closely enough for confirmation. The yellow circle components look like capacitors, and the red one seems to be a resistor. I can determine the resistor value by checking the two adjacent components. For the capacitors, if another non-working board is available, could you possibly measure their resistance? They’d need to be unsoldered first for an accurate reading. The second image shows their positions. If you hold the board with the IO side up, these should be near where the CPU cooler backplate attaches. I’m also aware there’s a scratch visible on the trace, though the traces appear intact when viewed from different angles. It seems someone might have dropped the board and picked up the parts by accident. I’d like to fix this if feasible. This would be a significant upgrade compared to my current B350 board. If those are capacitor pads, a resistance test won’t work—you’d have to use a method to gauge capacitance, since a capacitor will momentarily conduct before acting as an insulator.

Consented. However, the initial evaluation will approximate the actual value. Repeating the test multiple times allows for a reasonably precise reading. At least this approach functions well with electrolytic capacitors. Ceramic or MLC might behave slightly differently.
