Generally, CPUs with many cores aren't always used effectively in games. Higher core counts don't always translate to better performance, especially if the frequency isn't optimized. Most modern consoles, like the Xbox One and PS4, use octa-core processors that run at much lower speeds than what gamers expect. This suggests game developers have managed to utilize each core efficiently, implying 8-core support should be available. Why do PCs still stick to four cores? It could be related to how games are designed or the lack of mainstream CPUs with more than four cores until recently. Edited July 20, 2017 by k.m.p typo

PC games usually rely on four cores at most since most users have quad-core processors, according to Intel. Consoles can support more cores because their games and engines can fully use all available cores. PC titles must function across a broad spectrum of hardware, while console games are limited to the architecture of their respective consoles.

since last year AMD hadn't brought affordable Ryzen models with six and eight cores, and Intel wasn't keen either, making it tough to achieve this. Linus has shared a video about it. It's expected soon because Ryzen is giving game developers more incentive, especially since more CPUs now have more than four cores.

AMD integrates processors into multiple gaming systems, which likely accounts for their high core counts. If Intel were in charge, consoles would feature a four-core processor.

AMD pushed Intel to adopt dual-core technology... Remember that @Shiv78. It would be surprising if Intel didn<|pad|> to leave parts of a core disabled when building console CPUs with that many cores.

What a question! The chances of seeing 6/8 core support in 2017/early 2018 were quite high. The video title was likely something related to that timeframe, such as "Core Support 2017" or "6/8 Core Release."
