Find assistance for converting USB 2.0 to USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers with a adapter.
I'm setting up my first gaming PC and the part picker mentions needing a USB 2.0 to USB 3.2 Gen 1 adapter and another for USB 3.2 Gen 1 to Gen 2. Anyone know what those are?
If you're not concerned about the Type C port on the case top panel, it doesn't affect anything. But if you are, here are some alternatives. Your motherboard typically lacks the standard Type E connector for connecting to the case front panel's Type C ports. You can: Keep the port disconnected and avoid using it. Switch everything to USB 2.0 and use one of the two USB2.0 headers on your board with an adapter. Transfer the Type C USB3 connection from your case to a USB2 header via this adapter, then convert the case's Type C port to USB3 using the same adapter. Consider purchasing a USB PCIe card that includes the proper Type E plug for your front panel Type C port. Ideally, get a motherboard with the correct Type E header from the start.
