Looking for affordable switches that deliver gigabit performance? Consider models in the $300-$800 range from brands like Cisco, Netgear, or TP-Link. Prioritize features such as VLAN support and robust connectivity options.

What is your budget? I got a suggestion from a friend who’s knowledgeable about networking, so it looks like it should be quite solid.

How many ports do you require? Are they managed or unmanaged? I own a Netgear GS108 that’s been active nonstop for more than a year without any intervention. I also have a GS205, which often needs power cycling and sometimes doesn’t connect properly to my Xbox One, especially during games like Destiny 2 and The Division. Both were cleared at a local Walmart for under $20 each, but I’m unsure of their current market value.

This 8-port Netgear GS308 wireless splitter has been reliable for me: https://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-Ethernet-...00KFD0SEA/

In reality, any option should work. They’re probably using identical chips and expect all ports to operate at maximum speed.

They're basically the same thing. I own some metal trendnet pieces that work well for years, and I don’t need to worry about adding gigabit capability.
