Hello everyone! Because of a faulty DIMM slot, I’m considering swapping out my ASUS ROG X570-I. Ideally, I’d prefer a replacement, as I really enjoy the board, but it has a major problem that’s making me question whether the cost is worth it. The RGB lighting bothers me a lot—I really dislike it. I went to great lengths to make sure nothing with RGB was present, even removing the power LED cables. All other components are blacked out except the motherboard, since most ITX X570 boards I’ve seen with those features came with RGB. Eventually, I decided to buy a new one, hoping it wouldn’t be too disruptive. But it still bothers me. I can turn it off in BIOS, but it keeps reactivating and gives me a strong urge to destroy my PC. Every time I try to sleep, seeing the colorful glow makes me angry and anxious about what might happen next. Now that I need a new board, there’s a silver lining: I might end up with two. That way, I can safely inspect the old one, pull out cables and break bulbs without worrying about harming it. I just need some guidance on how to start. Any tips?
Adjustable solutions: Light touches of rubbery liquid on the diodes disrupt the RGB controller update (though this may force certain chips to full brightness across all colors, resulting in a bright white). RGB is really not suitable for motherboards and should be avoided completely. I completely understand. We should also design cases without side panels and include fan placements instead. I won't bother you with RGB graphics or flashy logos—they only add more frustration. Save me from the $3 RGB option and give me a solid black-on-black-on-black setup with extra black. Please, get me a green PCB for the motherboard and save me some money. /rant Now, regarding a fix, I think updating the BIOS is the simplest solution. It shouldn't automatically turn back on if you change it directly in the BIOS. You have to adjust it through the BIOS itself, not via Windows. There are 100% boards that handle this effectively—just look for one that fits your needs. If you don't search carefully, you might miss a compatible model. I'm not sure if Asus's BIOS handles this well, but it could make a big difference.
