EA is clearly aiming to match Valve’s presence, and they’ve already achieved success in certain aspects. They offer superior customer support and a reliable refund policy long before Valve entered the scene. While Origin doesn’t always promote third-party titles, it seems this trend has been ongoing for several years. Ubisoft distributes games across all platforms, but requires Uplay to be installed alongside any DRM system you prefer. When you open an Ubisoft game on Steam, it initially launches Uplay first, a pattern I suspect Origin follows as well.

Steam benefits from the QWERTY effect. Since it's now the main way PC games are distributed, no one else can really challenge it. The only real threat comes from steam itself.
