Find a suitable budget AM5 CPU compatible with the 4060 motherboard.
I'm searching for a budget AM5 CPU that fits your setup. You have a Ryzen 7 Pro 4750G with 16GB RAM, and you're upgrading from an older AMD card. Prices may vary by region for GPUs.
The Ryzen 7600 non X is the best choice unless you manage to obtain a 7500F. The 7600 includes a standard cooler as well. Here are two images showing an average of 10 games at 1080p and 1440p with an RTX 4090. You’ll notice the Ryzen 7600 performs quite well for its cost.
I mean a 4750g is like plenty good to max a 4060. A cpu upgrade is gonna do very little here in this case.
I looked into a CPU bottleneck resource and found it mentions 13%, which led me to consider an upgrade.
These bottleneck sites are misleading. They usually work about 99% of the time. Their main goal is to make you rush into upgrading your hardware. Many of their promotions come directly from hardware makers. Overall, it’s a well-balanced setup. If you’re starting around 4080 KR, a 5700x3d would help you push performance in CPU-heavy games. Of course, a 4060 is a mid-range card—you can still upgrade and see better FPS in games like Valorant, especially if it isn’t GPU-limited. However, the current CPU might struggle to exceed around 240fps.
I would never upgrade because a bottleneck calculator tells you to. I'd only upgrade because you need to. There's always a bottleneck, but the question is: does it matter? A 4060 pairs pretty well with a 4750G, in the majority of games you will have nicely playable frame rates and be getting most of the GPU. Unless you're playing really competitive gaming where every frame counts, there's no need to buy something else.
