Considering a used R7 2700x or 1800x with a good motherboard, what upgrades would be beneficial? You already have the necessary components like GPU, RAM, PSU, etc.

You're asking if the combined cost of $170 for CPU and motherboard equals roughly $100 left for the CPU, which would only allow you to get a 2700x if it's heavily discounted on Craigslist.

No, the price should be around $180 and I don’t require a GPU. Yes, the budget is up to $200, but I’m open to purchasing the parts. A $70 motherboard would be a good choice.

Optimal choice could be pairing a 2600 with a B450, similar to a tomohawk setup. There’s limited flexibility for a MOBO once you buy a 2700, unless someone is offering it at an absurd price.

You're starting with a PCPartPicker list. It shows a CPU and motherboard options priced around $179.98. Shipping, taxes, and discounts are already factored in. On platforms like Craiglist or eBay, you might find a better used deal for the CPU if you're targeting a 2700x upgrade. If that doesn't work, compare the motherboard against this tier list—aim for Tier D or higher if possible, but Tier E is a safe fallback.

Oh no, the A320 is really lacking. They seem to be missing proper BIOS updates and unless things have changed, the GTX 960 still offers decent value. I wouldn't pick this board because of quality control problems. They might have fixed the issue, but other options are still available. I’d advise steering clear of it.

The quality control concerns stemmed from a limited budget and the unexpected issues with the more affordable B450 gigabyte model.

PCIe tracing was the most frequent method I encountered, the only one that stood out as being above average. The AUros M works well too.
