Find a new RAM stick for your computer.
You own an A320M-PRO-VDS-V2 motherboard that supports dual-channel but only has two slots for RAM sticks. You purchased two 8GB, 2400mhz sticks back in 2018. Recently one stopped working completely—your PC won’t boot with it. You now use just one stick, which is dead. You opened it thinking something might be damaged, but no signs of fire or burn were found. You have enough money to buy a single RAM stick, though prices are low in your region. A seller warned you that mixing a single stick won’t work even if the new one has similar speeds. The issue isn’t just speed—it’s the dual-channel requirement. What should you do? Using an 8GB stick in 2022 is quite limited.
The warranty is canceled. Ryzen tends to be selective about RAM, and mixing various brands or MICs isn't allowed. You'll need to purchase a new dual kit.
It may face some problems occasionally, but the chances are very low. It should work smoothly in dual channel mode, particularly when focusing on 2400MHz.
I just have to take that small risk for it. If everything works out, it should work in dual channel. Thanks for the peace of mind. I’m going to go with that one kit.
It seems the guarantee probably expired before the issue occurred. Unless the warranty is indefinite, there’s likely no further action needed. Just in case, it would be wise to double-check the terms.
