Hey! That’s an interesting question. For a brief use with light pressure, pressing the cooler onto the board to spread the paste seems fine. Since the load won’t be heavy, you probably don’t need to secure it tightly. Just check your specific setup and follow the guidelines for your model.

I'm not gonna say "it's definitely a great idea and totally fine, guaranteed" but i'll also say I've updated a zen motherboard's BIOS with the CPU naked, so there's that

Yes, you're right. It only takes around 30 seconds to attach and remove the cooler.
