Hello, upgrading your Wi-Fi to 5GHz can be done, but you’ll need to check a few things. You don’t necessarily need a brand-new router—just make sure it supports 5GHz. Your PC should also be compatible with that frequency; most modern devices do. Since you’re streaming games from your PC over Wi-Fi, ensure your connection is stable and the speed meets your needs.

Looking for a router with Wi-Fi 802.11ac capability and a compatible network card. These options are reasonably priced. Do you have a budget in mind for the upgrade?

The 5GHz Wi-Fi needs a router and a WiFi module that your PC supports; it might be time for a new router and a motherboard, or perhaps not.

I own this product from Amazon UK and it's paired with a Home Hub 1000 router.

The router and WiFi card need 5GHz support to function properly. If your router lacks this capability, you’ll need to either upgrade the router or install a wireless AP that can replace the one built into the Home Hub 1000. Also remember, the WiFi card you connected is a Wireless N900 model, which limits its performance compared to higher-speed cards. It wasn’t a poor choice for gaming, though—I used it in my previous setup before getting a wired connection. My mom currently uses this card in your computer.
