Final try to preserve the LG Gram webcam with touchscreen (driver files)
Hey there! Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate your kind words. This has been a passion project for me over the past two decades—searching for the perfect laptops is something I really enjoy. I’ve always liked testing them out in real use. I first became interested in LG Gram laptops about 2-3 years ago, probably through your videos. About six months back, I started comparing models and picked a 16-inch convertible for my office. It worked well. Then I decided to buy one for myself, and the 2021 LG Gram 16T90P-G.AA75G 2-in-1 was available at a good price. Here are its details: BIOS version GP251; SMBIOS 3.3; UEFI Boot enabled; Secure Boot turned off (also tried with it on) System BIOS Date 05/05/2022 OS Version 10.0.19044.1826 (Windows 10 21H2, Nov 2021 update); Intel Core i7-1165G7; Integrated Intel Tiger Lake-UP3 GT2 graphics from LG; 16GB LPDDR4 SDRAM; 512 GB NVMe with a 65W power supply (other options also worked).
The issue (likely mine) happened about 20 minutes ago. I installed a fresh Windows 10 64 home from an ISO using the Media Creation Tool. Everything seemed fine, but I noticed some hardware wasn’t set up correctly. The webcam displayed a black screen, and the touchscreen didn’t respond at all. - My device ID is ACPI\VEN_WCOM&DEV_5283, labeled as an I2C HID Device with a warning. - In the Device Manager, the monitor (MONITOR\LGD0694) shows a generic PnP Monitor using an outdated driver from 2006. - The camera (USB\VID_0408&PID_A096&REV_0001&MI_00) appears as a USB HD webcam. I tried upgrading to Windows 11, checking updates and drivers, installing PoP OS with a full wipe, adding the LG update center, updating drivers, installing software to auto-update, enabling touch screen in the LG Control Center, and even spoke to two support engineers from different companies. But they couldn’t resolve the problem.
Let me know if you need more help!
