Final decision on SenseMI Skew with Asus Bios and Ryzen 1XXX?
Final decision on SenseMI Skew with Asus Bios and Ryzen 1XXX?
I checked various forums and found many differing opinions. Some recommend turning it on, others off. Later BIOS updates caused more confusion, with some suggesting disabling and others enabling for different reasons. There are discussions about adjusting the skew value, but with certain Asus BIOS versions you can't change that setting—even though it's technically a Strix board. In 2019, the consensus seems to be whether to enable or disable SenseMI. I've managed to get a stable 4.0 GHz overclock on my 1700X when it's off, but I'm unsure if tweaking it could improve things. It's frustrating not knowing for sure. Thanks everyone!
I keep it off but I'm on a 2700X. My tests show no advantage using it—it only affects the "seen" CPU temperature. Adjusting it might make the CPU think its temperatures are lower, which often causes instability because it runs at reduced voltages for those fake lower readings.
