I just arrived two weeks ago and received a new modem during the move. The issue continues, but my TV alerts me about going offline often. On the other hand, I can play games with friends without much trouble. Would switching modems really help?

Consider using a router. But if the modem and router 2 in 1 is provided by your service, I’d suggest purchasing a separate dedicated router instead.
