File with random name in C:\ Drive. Deletion and modification not allowed.
Hi everyone, I was about to open my program files and found an unusual file with a very long name. (Shown below) There are many files listed—like "1025," "1026," "1027"—and others such as PNGs named "Splashscreen" or "Header." I can’t view them, and I’m not sure how to interact with them. They seem to require special permissions that only the SYSTEM has. After checking a few things, most people say these are leftover Windows Update files. However, others reported being able to delete them, which makes me wonder if they’re actually malware or spyware. I ran a full scan with Avast! Antivirus and Malwarebytes, but no threats were found. Could you all give me your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Check for updates, .NET installers... Run CCleaner and attempt to remove them. Wipe system restore points, etc.
Sure, using CCleaner sounds good. Your recent installation of the latest .NET framework did raise some concerns, but it seems to have resolved the issue.
