Hi, I'm using macOS Sierra on an older rMBP13 device. Recently, I've noticed I can't drag or drop files or folders anymore. Normally I use the hold gesture or three-finger drag (enabled in Accessibility). I also can't copy or paste content. When I try to paste text with cmd-v, it sounds like deleting a character in a text field. It seems permissions might be the issue. I've searched online but only found reinstall suggestions, which aren't helpful right now.

It’s not likely it’s about permissions, but you can always fix permissions by using "fsck -fy" in the terminal. I’ll check it for you.

I noticed the terminal error: volume isn't mounted for writing. Try running it with (-l) to lock the volume first. After that, using -l again provided clearer options.

You can also fix disk permissions using Disk Utility—just open Spotlight, search for Disk, and when you see the Macintosh HD volume, choose "Repair disk permissions." Since I haven’t installed Sierra yet, the process might vary a bit now.

Disk Utility received a major update in Sierra. The only available fix appears to be First Aid. I tried it at the start, but nothing changed.

Noted several users reporting issues with drag-and-drop functionality. One suggestion points to AirParrot drivers and deleting certain plist files. The clipboard behavior might connect to the new universal clipboard feature in Sierra.

I'm working on resetting the Macs System Management Controller now. I'll attempt this later.
