File loss issue on SSD device.
File loss issue on SSD device.
Morning all, i have a problem with my pc build. i just installed a Crucial MX500 500BG SSD and after 1 week it will just disapear from my system. It won't show up in Device Manger, Disk Management, etc. When this issue is present my PC will take over 5 mins to boot up. the only fix for it i have found is changing the SATA port it is plugged into on my motherboard. Once i have done this the pc boots again like normal. SSD is there again like nothing happened. This is not an ideal fix as i do not want to be unplugging and changing ports every 7 days. The SSD is only 2 weeks old. i will list my system specs down below. It is a pre built PC from Acer. Acer Predator PO9-600 Acer Branded Motherboard Intel i7-8700k 3.7GHz Corsair LPX 3600MHZ DDR4 32GB (x2 16GB sticks) Unbranded Nvidia GTX1080 GPU 8GB Intel NVMe SSD 256GB (NVMe INTEL SSDPEKKW25) Toshiba 2TB HDD (TOSHIBA DT01ACA200) Crucial MX500 SSD (CT500MX500SSD1) FSP 750w PSU 1) I have changed the SATA cable for the SSD twice now 2) i have changed ports at the same time as the calbe change. 3) All PC drivers are up to date
I own four SATA connections on my motherboard prior to installing the Crucial SSD. Before, two ports were occupied—ports 1 and 2—and the other two (3 and 4) were available. I connected the SSD to port 3 seven days ago. After seven days, it vanished. I powered off the system, removed the cable, swapped it for a fresh one, and reinserted it into port 4. Restarting the PC restored it successfully. Seven days later, it disappeared again. Today (15/8/22) it’s gone once more. I repeated the process, plugging it back into port 3, and it worked perfectly this time. The drive health check now shows optimal status with a green indicator. I’m planning to look for the latest BIOS update for my board and will attempt an upgrade.
