Hello everyone, I hope everything is going well with you all! I’m experiencing a problem where my file explorer tends to freeze whenever I click on it or when I attempt to open it from a website to pick up a file. This issue used to happen occasionally, but it has recently become much more frequent and disruptive. When I try to load files, the application either functions properly or becomes unresponsive for an extended period, making it impossible to view files, affect my wallpaper, or refresh tabs. It’s particularly frustrating when I’m trying to save a file from a site because it renders my browser unusable. I’ve also discovered online that these issues aren’t due to corrupted files, as indicated by the link you provided: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9y9PdH.

For those who prefer not to click the link, here’s a summary of my current system specs:
- 5600G
- MSI B550M PRO-VDH Wifi
- Corsair RGB Pro 32 GB DDR4-3600 CL18
- Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2
- EVGA SC GAMING ACX 3.0 GTX 1070 8 GB (used)
- P360A Case
- Corsair RM650x (2018) 650W 80+ Gold ATX Power Supply
- MSI Optix G273 Monitor and Koorui 24E3 (both 165hz)

Additionally, I have integrated graphics installed, but since my computer is connected to the GPU, it’s unclear whether that would resolve the problem. (Note: It might also be related to the GPU itself, as I’ve seen cases where performance degrades after updates.)

My goal is simply to find a solution so I can continue my studies and complete tasks without interruption.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Consider using DDU to delete your GPU drivers (Intel, AMD and Nvidia) and then reinstall them manually with the newest version from Nvidia in an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
Regarding your operating system, did you install it immediately or upgraded via the internal OS upgrade process?

I reinstalled my Windows 11 completely on this machine and performed a fresh install a while back. For the DDU, could you please tell me how to use it? Thank you very much for your assistance <3

I found the solution. It seems my 2tb portable SSD is causing issues with my computer.

Create and model a portable 2 TB SSD?
External USB connection – accurate?
Was the SSD delivered as a complete unit or was it installed into an enclosure? Is it independently powered?
Check Reliability History/Monitor. Windows might be recording an error code, warning, or informational event just before or when the portable SSD fails.

It was an External USB SSD! Just connect it to your computer and it should function properly. It was a "Seagate Backup Plus Ultra Touch Portable Hard Drive." I verified there were no errors, but when I opened my file explorer, everything worked. Perhaps it was because it was connected during startup or had been plugged in for a long time? I'm not sure.

The error may not show up as a "drive error" per se. Just watch for future errors, if any, that may be captured just before or at the time the SSD is plugged in.
Should not be a problem if connected for months....
However even though "plug and play" hold off on plugging the drive (or any device) in until Windows is open and running. Connecting during boot up can be problematic.
Especially if there is some electrostatic discharge while the USB plug is being connected.
Or plug in before turning on the power. Even tiny sparks are bad.
Computers get confused when the electrons go the wrong way.
😱
And, as you should always being doing anyway, be sure that all important data on that SSD is being backed up at least 2 x to locations other than the host computer. Verify that the backups are recoverable and readable.
