She isn't deceiving me. My current specs could handle 4K on an RTX3080, but my setup isn't great for cooling and can't support the 500W PSU upgrade. That's why I designed a new system. Edited March 6, 2022 by An0maly_76
I'm a guy but it feels great saying that. Those RTX 3000 cards really consume power. Back when I had two in my rig (sold to a machine learning expert), my 1000W PSU would be more than enough for the rest of time, which means I can't really understand your problem.
That’s exactly what I was aiming for when reviewing the specifications. I’ll include some extra space soon, but right now storage seems more crucial.
It was a big deal with just a few hard drives and an M.2 featuring six fans. I might have managed 650W, but I ended up with 850W—definitely in the Tony Montana spirit... "You wanna play rough! O-KEH! O-KEH! Say 'ELLO to my little FREN'!"
Still choosing the 850w option. Those components can easily exceed their power limits and push toward 450w, while the 1700 OC'd performance on all cores might hit close to 200 if you opt for a more stable setup. I’m never too sure about some of these PSUs delivering their advertised wattage—my boyfriend experienced an HX850 failure after overclocking a 1070ti heavily. The extra $30 for the additional 200 watts is worth the confidence in that case.
