You're considering a motherboard upgrade because it's missing something important. Unless you have specific needs like higher performance or special features, it usually isn't worth replacing the whole board. Instead, adding an expansion card for the desired capability is a better approach.
My view is that it's a waste of money. An AM4 setup isn't useful, especially with a Ryzen 5 3600. When you eventually upgrade the CPU, you'll likely have to replace the motherboard again (since it moves to AM5) and possibly switch to DDR5 RAM instead of the older type.
For Ryzen 5800X or 5900X users, ensure MPG B550 is installed. If you don’t upgrade, skip it.
As Zen 5 approaches its launch this year, I plan to hold off on upgrades and stick with the current AM4 setup. For immediate needs, unless you replace your CPU with a comparable Zen 4 model, you’d likely be wasting money.
