Hey everyone, I've been trying out Fedora 41 with KDE on a spare laptop and it's really smooth so far. I'm feeling the urge to switch distros and plan to move my desktop from Kubuntu LTS to Fedora. However, I have a question: the latest Fedora release is scheduled for late April, and this update changes KDE from "Spin" to "Edition." Since I can't wait another two months, I'm thinking about running the 41 KDE Spin now. What does it mean to upgrade to "Edition" instead of just updating? Would I need to reinstall Fedora rather than just applying the update? Are there differences between the "Spin" and "Edition" versions for KDE, or is it mainly about how they appear on the site? Lastly, is it better to wait for Fedora 42 this weekend or push the update later? I've read some info but wanted to discuss this here—maybe someone has experience with Fedora specifically.

Based on what I've seen, there seems to be no compelling reason to delay the update. The discussion suggests the focus will likely be on showcasing and promoting their KDE version, given existing development efforts. You'll still need to complete the upgrade from version 41 to 42, but my experience indicates it's generally straightforward. I've successfully updated from Fedora KDE 38 to 41 by using the Discover update button, and I expect a similar process for 42. I hope this clarifies things!
