Fedora 25 with KDE Plasma and VMWare Player 12 may experience compatibility issues.
I was attempting to set up Fedora 25 with KDE Live after installation, but encountered problems afterward. The virtual machine is configured for 3D acceleration, which functions well on my Debian VM using glxgears. However, once the desktop and file explorer are installed, crashes occur. Rebooting or shutting down causes a freeze during the boot screen. This seems to be a known issue or bug. I plan to try installing a GNOME image tonight to compare results. KDE looked appealing but didn’t impress much.
The system is operating on x server. After restart, it displays the error "Failed to early mount api filesystems freezing." I plan to install a gnome image once I return home.
Viewing the gnome image revealed the issue during startup: "Failed to Load SELinux Policy, freezing." Seems Fedora isn't compatible with VMware.
It seems the fedora 25 version launches on Wayland by default. This could be contributing to the issue causing the crash.
I've been eager to experiment with the new Fedora for some time, and fixing this issue is the ideal reason for me to try it. I'll share more details once I get back.
