Hello everyone, my rig appears in my profile signature. I'm trying to launch FEAR 1 at maximum settings with a 4K DSR display (1080P at 144Hz). During testing I see around 40-50fps, but in-game and during cutscenes it drops to 18-20fps. On a modern system like mine, this should run smoothly, especially on a 1080 GTX TI. The only settings missing are Pixel doubling and forcing Direct X 8 shaders. This suggests either an optimization issue or that the game is particularly demanding. I'm hoping MSI Afterburner's in-game overlay will help me monitor CPU and GPU usage to better understand what's causing the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

F.E.A.R 1 runs smoothly on older systems, especially with 1080p enabled. I managed to push the settings to 4K DSR, but not without limitations. I plan to test a version without 4K DSR to check for better performance.

I experienced a comparable problem. It was functioning properly initially, but after a month it dropped to 4-20 FPS. The system had an i5 3450 12 GB DDR3 GTX 1050 Ti with ample power supply.

FEAR 1 faces issues with specific peripherals such as Logitech mice. Certain device controllers must be turned off for some users or the game will lag. This isn't related to any other hardware components, only input devices and controller drivers. Uncertain if anyone has compiled a list of impacted hardware.

I conducted further checks after applying the MSI afterburner overlay during gameplay, noticing general frame irregularities and inconsistent performance. The issue continues even when switching to 1080P resolution. I recalled a tool called WINE3D (link provided) which appears to have resolved the problem. Currently, I’m seeing a steady 60fps at 4K DSR. More testing is planned, but everything seems functional so far.

The update indicates the previous solution only postponed the issue, causing FPS to plummet to 10-20 frames per second after roughly five minutes. Further investigation revealed the problem stems from Logitech hardware (as noted by Maxbunny). The referenced link is provided below: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files...t-fps-fix/. After implementing the fix, a steady 60fps (4K DSR) remains even after nearly two hours of gameplay. I’m sharing this update in case others want to try it with current systems and encounter the same issue.
