FBI/CIA records stored on my HP Omen device
Hello, I own an HP OMEN Obelisk 875-1022 gaming setup with an Intel Core i9-9900K at 3.6GHz, 16GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB, and Windows 10 Home. I noticed FBI and CIA INI files in C:\system.sav. There’s some research suggesting HP might have included these for internal humor, but they surfaced in USB recovery tools. They provided a replacement drive because my drivers were corrupted. I learned that the company sometimes adds hidden elements, like the reference to Compaq Installation Assistance and CIA, which seems unusual for 2020. It feels odd that a reputable brand would reference such sensitive names. There’s speculation about more secretive practices, but I’m not sure what’s really going on. The USB stick they sent didn’t work, so I’m replacing it with another drive to avoid losing internet access or other features. I read that HP has previously hidden functionality in Realtek audio drivers, which raised concerns. I’ve had issues with PowerSpectre parts before—they caused problems like artifacts and random crashes. Microcenter staff were helpful, and their logs are trustworthy. Regarding formatting, the stick they gave was incorrect; I need a different one to keep my system functional. Also, the log file I mentioned is hpusbsticklog1.txt.
Use an 8GB or bigger USB drive to create a Windows 10 installer with the Media Creation tool. Set up Windows 10 using this method. The installation tends to work well with drivers, and you should easily get the necessary LAN or wireless drivers after reinstalling. This usually doesn’t cause problems on newer computers, as support is typically available right away.
Someone in the company will explain how Windows gathers data.
They collaborated with Bill Gates. They gather our emails and data, which is why Windows is considered malware. That’s why I’m wary of additional backdoors. I’ve spoken to someone in the media about a major case, which explains why I was linked to that site.
If you were in my position, I’d definitely second-guess everything around me. I’ve checked it out now, but let’s be honest—this conversation is really impressive.
