Hey everyone, my dad's PC has been acting up while he plays Sea of Thieves. After about 45 minutes to an hour and a half of gaming, it just powers off completely—no BSOD, nothing weird. He can switch to other games like Tiny Tinas Wonderlands, Deep Rock Galactic, and even some VR titles. We've never had problems with those, only with Sea of Thieves. All drivers are current, Windows and the game have been reinstalled a few times. His setup is an I7 8700k with 16 GB RAM, an ASUS TUF gaming Z370+ graphics card, MSI RTX 3080, and an unknown 800W PSU. This machine was prebuilt, so we changed the RAM, GPU, and M.2 drive. My guess is the PSU is the issue—why does Sea of Thieves trip it while others don't?
Upgrade your graphics drivers or refresh them using Win + Ctrl + Shift + B to restore. It might also mean the power supply unit is low quality, similar to some prebuilt setups.
I checked it before and it was an OEM Chinese brand, not a popular one. I don’t recall the exact model. If I’m right, it didn’t have enough 8 pins—just two with pigtails. We found an adapter that could connect two pigtails to an 8-pin, so we used it temporarily and seem to have forgotten about it. So far, no problems have arisen.
